As someone who is really into metaphysics as an interest, it frustrates me when people have no idea what they're talking about on topics such as this.
Most people hear about reincarnation, jump on the first thing they can think of that they really like and go "HOMG IT MUST HAVE HAD TO DO WITH THIIIIS". Um, no. If reincarnation was about having the same thoughts and interests over and over again there would be no point. You have to be the good guy a few times, you have to be the jerk a few times. You have to be a spineless wuss and you have to be a cocky bastard. The whole point of reincarnation is to learn from different experiences, not to have the same ones over and over and over, so why would you be the same thing over and over and over? You have to be different. Sure, maybe some commonalities carried over, maybe some interests of yours herald back to the past, but that doesn't mean that EVERY SINGLE THING you have a passing or even strong interest in is heralding from the past. Experiences are what carries over, the big important things. For me, who believes that I was a Victorian prostitute, I found this when I was watching an episode of 'The History of Sex' on the Victorian era and at a section that spoke about brothels, prostitutes, etc. I was overcome by this overwhelming feeling of misery that brought me to tears. That kind of emotional reaction is what really heralds back to what might have been.
