What All New Deviants Should Be Told Upon Joining

-There are people here who WILL bash you for using text speak, improper typing, etc. so I'd suggest making friends with the Shift key

-If someone randomly starts insulting you without provocation, that's called a troll. Ignore them and they'll go away. If you yell back at them they have automatically won regardless of what you said

-This is NOT like photobucket. You can't just post images you like that you didn't make. That's against the rules and you could get in deep trouble for it

-Drawing over screenshots, official pictures, images you didn't make yourself, etc. or otherwise manipulating them and posting it is also considered art theft, even if you credit the original artist. deviantART has plenty of "Stock" images that you can edit and post as much as you want as long as you accredit the original artist and deviation so use those, ONLY if they are under the "Stock" category

-Lots of deviants also create line art and bases that can be played around with as long as you credit back to the original artist and deviation. These may be fun for practicing colouring, adding clothing and hair onto a figure, etc. but don't forget to practice drawing figures yourself!

-You may want to post images you didn't create yourself anyway because you want people to think that you're a really amazing artist. Most deviants will figure out pretty fast that the stolen art is not yours and will report you for it, meaning you could get banned. Don't bother with art theft, it won't get you anywhere

-This is an art site full of serious artists who will give you serious critiques on your work. If it sounds like they're insulting your work, take a breath and read it again. They may just be trying to give you advice to help you get better as an artist

-These serious artists LOVE receiving critiques as well as giving them, so feel free to give feedback in the Comments of deviations

-Don't post Comments on your own profile; it makes you look silly. If you have something to say to visitors to your page and your Watchers, post it in a Journal

-Manga and anime are very popular on deviantART already, so feel free to branch out and try other styles as well!

-Llamas don't do anything, but giving them is a great way to thank another artist for faving your work or helping you out

-Joining Groups is not only a simple way to be in contact with the types of art you love, but is also a great way to get your art noticed. But remember: being a Member of a Group does not mean you can submit anything there, ex. If you're a member of a Naruto fan club, don't submit pictures of flowers to it because that doesn't have to do with Naruto

-The chatrooms are used by most deviants to roleplay. This is a fun way to meet new people, foster your creativity and imagination through the stories you get involved in, and develop your writing skills. If you don't want to roleplay, there are plenty of chatrooms dedicated to just talking about various subjects as well

-Some people will get frustrated with you for being a noob. Don't be upset about it, everyone was a noob at some point

-As is the case with anywhere on the Internet or in the world at all, there will be people who don't agree with you on dA. Rather than making different stances into a rivalry, try to take a look at why the people who aren't like you are the way they are. Don't aggravate, tolerate

-If you ever have any questions, the Help Desk probably already has an answer. If you don't find what you're looking for in the "Commonly Asked Questions", feel free to send a Ticket to the Desk with your inquiry. It may take a time for them to get to it, so don't get impatient and start sending more. It's just more work for the Staff

-This is a place to enjoy yourself and grow as an artist while enjoying the art of others, so make your dA experience a good one!
I'm sure others have made stuff like this, but I figured I'd make one of my own. No one reads the tl;dr rules to join so I think we should just give all new deviants this to read.

I forget anything?
