Canons and OCs by linawifeofL Canons and OCs by linawifeofL
Pretty self-explanatory.

Yes, fan fiction is the fiction of the fan, but there is always that writer that really pushes the limits into non-canon OOC behaviour territory...

As requested by the fantabulous Eliza <3

i personally like canon x reader or canon x canon. it pisses me off when the title is ____ x reader or ______ x _______ and it ends up being something like, "misayaki hoshigaku is a 15 year old neko-slave-maid whos beautiful but slightly insane and ends up as sasuke uchiha's maid/sex slave" like wtf i came to read a story not read about your oc's pathetic porno!
Canon characters are fictional and don't have real feelings.
If people want to pair their characters up with Canon characters, let them.

I agreed with this with other fandoms but not much with mlp.

Just curious, but what are your thoughts on this journal on OCxCanon relationships?… ANd I'm mostly "meh" about the topic.

The thing that bothers me most about OCs is that whenever I try to find fanfiction of a pairing I have to dig through pages and pages of characterxOC before I find something related to the pairing I was looking for (I've noticed this on especially). People, your OCs probably suck. Not all but MOST OCs are awful. If you want to create OCs and pair them up, try writing your own stories. You might enjoy writing original material more because you, as the original creator, can control EVERYTHING in the story. You can decide character personalities, what the universe they live in is like, what time period they live in, who the villains are, etc.

*Canada voice* Okay, my rant is done. Don't kill me.

...First you said that 'Finding a fan fiction of a pairing, you have to dig through pages of OCxCharacter (Or the other way around) to get to the pairing fan fiction'.

Now you're telling people that 'If they want to ship OCs with cannon characters, that they can write their own story.'.

'Write their own story' as in instead of canon charaxOC, write the same story but with OCxOC. An example (kinda) would be 50 Shades of Grey. I don't know how true this is, but it supposedly started off as a piece of fanfiction, but the characters were changed so that the story could be published. Just tweak the canon chara a little (change their appearance and parts of their personality you don't like), change their name, put them with an OC, and boom, original (to others, anyway) character.

Or just write an OCxCharacter fanfic and keep it to yourself, you could always do that.
